The outer case: useful information for busy hands
The box behind the retail box needs a clear identity of its own.

Design for the operator
An outer case is often read quickly by someone moving stock. Product identity, quantity and handling information need a dependable hierarchy. Avoid assuming that the person knows the range as well as the brand team does.
Start with the practical questions asked in the warehouse. Which product is inside? How many units? Which way should the case be handled? Have the operations team supply the required information and review the proposed layout in context.
Repeat where it helps
Cases may be stacked with different faces visible. Repeating essential identifiers on more than one face can make them easier to recognise. Choose the locations based on actual storage and handling rather than visual symmetry alone.
Leave space for any later marks or labels. A clean area designed for variable information is more useful than a dense print pattern that must be covered. Check how the layout behaves when cases are stacked, partially obscured or viewed from a short distance.
Keep the print robust
Corrugated material and the chosen print process affect fine detail. Discuss type, line weight and artwork requirements with the supplier. A simplified graphic can still be distinctive while being easier to reproduce consistently.
Do not treat the case as an enlarged retail carton. Its audience and reading conditions differ. Brand recognition is useful, but operational clarity deserves priority when the two compete for the same area.
Try this in the studio
Make a full-size printout and attach it to a representative case. Stack several cases and ask someone to identify a product and quantity without moving the whole stack.
The exercise can reveal that the key identifier is too small or on the wrong face. Fix those issues before polishing decoration. Good outer-case design makes routine work easier to perform accurately.
